Assington Mill - Mill Cottage
We have a cottage in the farmyard complex, overlooking the millpond, which has a double bedroom and sitting room upstairs, and a kitchen/hall and wetroom downstairs. The boiler room can also be used as a drying room. The building used to be part of the mill, maybe the office, and was converted in 2008. It is heated by a ground source heat pump, which takes heat from the earth, and has a woodburning stove for extra cosiness. There is a private garden between the cottage and the millpond, surrounded on the other two sides by a shrub-rose bed on one side and a willow bank on the other. Guests can make full use of our 70-acre private nature reserve, plus the two Suffolk Wildlife Trust nature reserves to the south. There are also bicycles and a boat. Food can be bought from the excellent farmshop in the village, which will also provide cash providing you spend a certain amount, and a tea room. The Should of Mutton pub in the village does generous helpings of food at reasonable prices. Petrol stations are 3, 6 and 10 miles away.
