Tutor:
Chris Heseltine
Cost:
£80 including home-made lunch & all other refreshments
Time:

Price: £80.00

A one-day course to explain the principles of fruit tree pruning, the use of tools and how to sharpen them.  This will be followed by a practical demonstration in Chris's orchard on how to prune new trees, and another in a different orchard on how to rescue old and neglected fruit trees.
You will be able to practise on several trees during the day, with supervision.

On the May course, we will be able to prune plums & cherries, as well as apples & pears.

On the November course, we will concentrate on apples and pears, but Chris will answer questions on those trees that cannot be pruned in winter.

STUDENTS' COMMENTS:

Totally enjoyable and very informative.  Covered exactly what I needed to know.  It was such a friendly course and in a lovely setting.  Anne's cooking is wonderful!

Fabulous course!  Informative and entertaining.  Food delicious and the landrover ride a bonus.  Stella G.

Fantastic day - shame it's dark now, I'd like to start on my trees tonight!

This course has exceeded expectations in a most unique venue with peace and quiet. Really interesting to meet like minded people as having an orchard is a lonely occupation. Chris was so knowledgeable and hands on pruning superb, as was the catering. YC

Great day, thoroughly enjoyed it and the adventure in the landrover.  Fabulous setting for workshops.  Pauline A.

Really good course. Very well presented and practical consolidated the tuition, which was very important. Has given me a lot of confidence. Andy L.

Everything was excellent.  Would like an advanced course.  Thank you for a lovely day.  Christabelle L.

Course content superb.  Food excellent.  Would definitely recommend.

Wasn't sure it would be worth as much as it cost, especially for two of us, but felt it was really good value.  And the food was excellent.  Thanks.

Excellent practical work.  Good to be amongst a like minded group of people.  Andrew H

Great practical hands on tuition blowing away some of the extbook theory.  Certainly what’s needed to give you the confidence to do the job properly.  Chris

There should be a box for leader’s enthusiasm – (two smilies).   Frank H

A great course.  I learnt a huge amount and, I think more importantly, it has given me the confidence to at last prune my trees.  Thank you for that!  Lorna S.   PS  A very interesting venue too.  Covering the range of trees was also very good, together with the hands on approach.

The day flew and I’d have happily come back tomorrow!  Anne S
