A one-day storytelling workshop for those wishing to tell stories to children or to other adults.

No experience necessary.  Bring nothing but yourselves.

The aim of the tutor for this enjoyable and hands on workshop is for you to leave at the end of the day with the tools and the skills to begin to tell stories.  Exporing the way into story, is an intriguing journey of discovery and can be great fun as well as enlightening.

We will use a structure of workshop games and techniques used by professional storytellers to "find" a story.  These games are rewarding and sometimes hilarious!  Then we will take a look at how to uncover the bones of story which we call the structure.  We will identify what is important within a particular chosen story and what makes them the bones.  At the end of the morning we hope to be able to dip into the images of the story and find what I call "emotional attachment".

The afternoon will be looking at what lies within story, the archetypes, metaphor, the physical reality, the dressing up and reconstruction of story from the bones to something ready to be told.

Finally we will see how the use of voice, movement, sound, silence, speed, clocking and of course preparation all play a major roll in this ancient art form.
